About Me

I’m Eoin O’Driscoll, a Fine Gael Councillor representing Stillorgan on Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

I went into public life because I believe public service should be about listening to people, taking their concerns seriously and working to get things done. I believe decisions are often best made as close as possible to the people they affect, while government at every level has a responsibility to provide the leadership, infrastructure and services that communities need.

I believe in building stronger communities in which people can flourish. That means building more homes so that people can put down roots, supporting local businesses and economic opportunity, investing in the infrastructure needed to support growth, and making sure public services are delivered effectively and provide good value for money.

Since becoming a Councillor, I have worked on issues including housing and planning, wastewater infrastructure, community safety, local businesses, parks and public spaces, public finances and accessibility. I am Fine Gael’s Disability Champion for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and serve on the Local Policing Forum and Local Community Safety Partnership. I also work on housing policy through the European People’s Party at the Committee of the Regions.

I grew up locally and attended Árd Tona in Churchtown and St Michael’s College. I played football with Dundrum AFC and hurling with Kilmacud Crokes, and studied at Trinity College Dublin and King’s College London. I am married and have a young child, and like many families, I want to see our community remain a place where people can put down roots, raise a family and build a good life.

Outside of politics, I have established a successful career in strategic communications, current working in the recycling sector. Previously I worked as a Political Adviser to Minister Josepha Madigan. I have also worked with the Irish Mission to the United Nations on the Middle East Peace Process and as a human rights monitor in Palestine and Israel.

I have been involved in European politics and civil society for over a decade and believe Ireland is strongest when it plays an active role at the heart of Europe.
